Flourishing Blossoms XR Showcase

A pro-bono XR showcase piece created for Guangzhou Fashion Week — an immersive floral environment built on the same Immersal + 8th Wall + Three.js stack we developed for our cultural-tourism work.

Flourishing Blossoms XR Showcase

An immersive floral XR experience created in collaboration with Chance 3D for Guangzhou Fashion Week — a creative showcase piece exploring how the Immersal + 8th Wall + Three.js spatial-AR pipeline we'd developed for cultural-tourism deployments could be applied to the world of fashion and luxury brand activation.

Project Overview

For Guangzhou Fashion Week's Organizing Committee, working with Chance 3D, Hyperyond delivered the Flourishing Blossoms XR experience as a pro-bono showcase. The intent on both sides was creative: stretch the pipeline beyond cultural-tourism, prove out what it could feel like in a fashion-adjacent environment, and put a piece of work into the world that fashion-week audiences could experience first-hand.

Role Division: Chance 3D led the creative concept, environmental design, and the floral-themed visual language. Hyperyond was the sole technical contractor — porting the spatial-AR pipeline we'd built for our cultural-tourism work over to the showcase context, with all of the field work, mapping, and runtime engineering.

Technical Solutions

A Showcase Application of the Spatial-AR Pipeline

We deliberately reused the Immersal + 8th Wall + Three.js architecture we'd developed for our cultural-tourism activations, applied to a different creative brief:

  • Immersal for the spatial map of the venue, so the floral environment could be anchored persistently to the physical space.
  • 8th Wall as the browser AR runtime — install-free access, consistent with how fashion-week audiences expect to encounter activations.
  • Three.js for rendering the immersive floral environment with reactive lighting and atmospheric effects on top of the SLAM-anchored layer.
  • Field capture and mapping for the venue, on-site positioning testing, and live operational support during the showcase.

Why a Fashion-Week Pro Bono Made Sense

Showcase projects exist in every serious creative-tech studio's portfolio. They do work that paid client engagements can't: they let the team explore a brief without constraints, they keep the muscle warm between paid projects, and they put work into the world in front of audiences a paid brief might never reach. Flourishing Blossoms played that role for Hyperyond — and demonstrated that the spatial-AR pipeline we'd built for outdoor cultural-tourism contexts could carry creative weight in a fashion environment too.

Technologies Used

  • Immersal (visual SLAM, spatial maps)
  • 8th Wall (browser WebAR runtime)
  • Three.js (rendering layer, lighting, particle effects)
  • Field-captured spatial map of the showcase venue

Why It Matters

The same engineering muscle that anchors cultural moments to a lakeside trail can anchor a floral installation to a fashion-week venue. Proving that out — and putting a working piece of XR in front of a fashion audience that doesn't usually encounter this technology — is the kind of work showcase projects exist to do.
